ABOUT JUSTIN
Justin has studied composition with notable Canadian composers such as Joanne Bender, Glenn Buhr, Linda Catlin-Smith, Cameron McKittrick, Iman Habibi, and Christos Hatzis. He has also studied piano with Amber Morphy, and both piano and harpsichord with Leslie De'Ath. Justin holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Master of Music degree in Composition from the University of Toronto. Justin’s works have been programmed by many notable ensembles both locally and internationally, including the Canadian Chamber Choir, the DaCapo Chamber Choir, the Menno Singers, the University of Toronto Wind Ensemble, and the Aliro Voices; his works have also been read and workshopped by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the Wilfrid Laurier University Symphony Orchestra, among others.
Aside from composing for friends and colleagues, Justin’s works have also been programmed by the Canadian Chamber Choir, the DaCapo Chamber Choir, the Wilfrid Laurier University Concert Choir, and the Aliro Voices, among others; his works have also been read and workshopped by notable ensembles such as the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. His Concerto for Piano and Orchestra was set to be recorded by the Wilfrid Laurier University Symphony Orchestra in 2021, which was sadly cancelled due to the pandemic. Justin loves providing music when it is needed in his community, whether it be a school, a church, a gallery, or even a library. He also enjoys the paintings of Christopher Pratt, particularly stunning sunrises, the Maritimes, the colour blue, Tafelmusik, and a cold glass of kombucha tea. |
